Mula Education Society’s College of Pharmacy, Sonai, established the Differently Abled Cell (Divyangjan Cell) in 2023-24, in compliance with government regulations.

The primary objective of the cell is to create a supportive and inclusive environment for students with disabilities, ensuring they have equal opportunities to engage in academic, cultural, and extracurricular activities. The college acknowledges the significance of empowering differently-abled students by providing the necessary resources, facilities, and assistance to help them succeed academically and grow personally. The cell works towards creating an environment where students with disabilities feel respected, valued, and integrated into the broader student community. It strives to eliminate both physical and social barriers that could prevent these students from fully participating in college life.

 

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:

 

The primary aim of the Differently Abled Cell is to promote inclusivity and equality for students with disabilities, ensuring they have equal access to both academic and non-academic opportunities.

 

The key objectives of the cell include:

 

  1. Providing essential aids and resources, including reading materials, assistive devices, and adaptive technologies, to support students with disabilities.
  2. Offering academic accomodations, such as extended exam time, note-takers, and accessible classrooms, to enhance the learning experience.
  3. Raising awareness among faculty, staff, and students about the specific needs and rights of differently-abled individuals.
  4. Organizing counseling and guidance services to help students with disabilities successfully navigate college life.
  5. Ensuring the campus is physically accessible, with ramps, elevators, and other necessary infrastructure.
  6. Promoting social inclusion and encouraging participation in all aspects of college life, including cultural programs and sports activities.

 

Through these efforts, the Differently Abled Cell strives to create a supportive, equitable environment for students with disabilities, helping them thrive both academically and socially.

 

 

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITY

The Differently Abled Cell Committee at Mula Education Society’s College of Pharmacy, Sonai, plays a key role in supporting students with disabilities. The committee’s main responsibilities include:

 

  1. Identifying the specific needs of differently-abled students and ensuring timely and effective support.
  2. Providing academic assistance, such as extra exam time, note-taking services, and access to assistive technology and devices.
  3. Organizing awareness programs for faculty, staff, and students to promote an inclusive environment and better understanding of the challenges faced by differently-abled individuals.
  4. Managing accessible infrastructure, such as ramps, elevators, and toilets, to ensure the campus is fully accessible.
  5. Regularly monitoring the progress of students with disabilities and offering counseling or psychological support to help them adjust to academic life.
  6. Ensuring the college follows all legal regulations and guidelines concerning the rights of differently-abled students, and advocating for any additional support or changes needed for their success.
